Postpartum Care
Hands on traditional care
Closing of the bones - $210

This is a special practice that is used to "close" the mother up. Birth opens us up physically, energetically and spiritually. Sometime near the end of the immediate postpartum time it is important that we close up the mother before she returns to the outer world.
The mother will lay down on a soft bed of blankets and starting at the top she will be wrapped up tightly working the way down to her feet. Once totally wrapped up she will lay there well calming music is played. She may be guided through a meditation she may have hands on support on different energy centers or she may be left to rest for a short time in quiet. Then once it is time the wraps will be removed starting at the head and working the way down again.
The Robozo is a safe container that allows the mother to feel supported and nurtured. Allowing her to relax and let go.

Abyhugua (warm oil massage) - $100

This warm oil massage helps bring the body back into balance. It is believed that the postpartum time is dry, cold and hard. This will help invite back warmth and oil which have a calming effect on the nervous system.
Similar to a normal massage the mother will undress down to undergarments and then lay down under warm blankets. The warm oil will then be applied to the limbs, torso, neck and head and ears if the mother would like. Once the warm oil is applied the mother will be left to rest for a short time or this is when we would do the closing of the bones if the mother is receiving that also.
It is a very relaxing and soothing massage with repetitive strokes (no deep pressure).

Vaginal Steaming - $125

Steaming brings warmth back into the pelvic bowl after birth. This will increase the blood flow to the vaginal tissues which promotes healing. This practice has been used around the world for thousands of years. It supports the body in cleansing and the releasing of what is within the uterus wall.
We will prep the herbs and water together. I will help set the space for the mother to relax and then leave her to steam for about 20min. During that time I will tend to the baby or other household needs.
Steaming relaxes muscles, softens tissues, supports lymph flow, and allows us time and space to connect with our self and our bodies after birth.

Moxibustion

During the postpartum time using moxibustion treatments have been preformed for thousands of years in China. Moxa has a tonifying and moving quality. Mothers feel relaxed and nurtured after this treatment and it can help relive discomfort in the pelvic area. This treatment helps with blood building and helps the organs return to their original place.
During this treatment the mother will rest well I set the herbs and box up. There will need to be good ventilation because there is smoke from the burning of the moxa. The mother will rest for up to an hour well the heat from the herbs penetrates her abdomen. Warming her from the inside.
This treatment aids in "closing" the mother up after birth, warming her and calming her spirits. This practice as well as the others are cumulative in effect, meaning the greatest benefits are seen when used regularly over a period of time.
