Innate's Planning for the Fourth Trimester Course

This is for families to take together to help both mother and father learn what is required to have a healing and supportive postpartum experience.
We will focus on the 5 essentials for postpartum healing, which are found in traditional systems around the world such as Chinese medicine and Ayurveda.​
We will attend the first 3 classes prenatally and the 4th and final class will take place once all mothers are at least 6 weeks postpartum.​
We do it this way so that we can spend the first 3 classes PREPARING for the fourth trimester. Developing a plan and identifying our community. Then we close out our time together during our 4th class by acknowledging the right of passage of becoming a Mother and Father. We will integrate and celebrate together during this time.
Extended Rest
During the postpartum time resting is essential to a mothers pelvic and hormonal health. Rest is important and necessary for healing to take place.

Warmth
Warmth equals healing of the physical body with movement of blood and lymph within the tissues and it also increases the production of Oxytocin, which promotes healing.

Postpartum Nutrition
There are specific foods that should be eaten that will support healing and there are foods that should not be eaten during the postpartum time that can have a negative effect on the mothers digestive health.
Community
The first 4 essentials are the building blocks of postpartum healing but COMMUNITY is the foundation of those blocks. We need community to support mothers.

Body Work
Allows for relaxation and supports the nervous system and guides the body back to non pregnant state, closing mother up physically and energetically .

What's Included
Three group classes
These 3 educational classes are taken with your partner or support person. They happen prenatally and are designed to educate you on the 5 cross culture postpartum needs of the mother.
They are taken PRENATALLY so that you can plan ahead for the best care and support.

A one on one session
A one on one session with Odessa where you can ask questions and share you concerns. This is also a great time to work together to build a postpartum plan. This one hour session is designed to add an extra layer of support that mothers and fathers need during this time. This can be customized to tend to whatever is alive for you at this time
Postpartum Community Class
This postpartum community class is scheduled once all mothers who attended the 3 group prenatal classes have had their babies. We do this as a way to come together and acknowledge the transition and rite of passage every family has just been through. For the completion of the rite of passage we need to be witnessed and acknowledge by our community.

Innate Traditions
During Planning for the Fourth Trimester Course you and your support person/partner will:

Design postpartum plans that will support your family and yourself to thrive. Both mother and fathers need support during the postpartum time as you navigate and rearrange to your new normal.

Identify your own community and what that will look like for your postpartum. How can you lean on them or what you need to do to build that community if you are lacking the support. (hint- most people in this modern world are lacking true community and support)

We will learn and explore "time-tested postpartum wisdom interwoven with modern science, to support women's long term health and vitality" - Innate Traditions

Simply by being apart of this course you will meet other like minded families that are in the same season of life as you. It can be comforting to share and see others having similar experiences. Especially as first or second time parents.
